Something Other references the space existing between Self and Other. This liminal concept stemmed from research into intersectional and diasporic identities and was influenced by literature on ritualistic processes. The installation is a recording of the process of brewing and sharing tea, with a focus on sensory elements through its use of sound, artist books, and poetry. Diasporic identities are synonymous with the circulation of tea as a symbol of our postcolonial situation in an increasingly globalised world where yet a lack of belonging is abundant. Nevertheless, the echoes of interaction in this work hints at a sense of belonging which can be found in our connection to others in sharing our experiences.

'I asked her about where she feels she is after all this time
aur ammi ne mujhe yeh bataya:
“No flower of our own, No thorn, No cruel gardener
Why did we make our nests in this gulshan
na idhar ke hue na udhar ke hue…”
Neither here, nor there.'
